CUSTOMISATION AND TESTS ON SITE FOR THE ERTMS/ETCS LEVEL 1 PILOT INSTALLATION VIENNA-BUDAPEST

Objective

The project ETCSVB has the main objective to set in place a pilot installation of the ERTMS, Level 1, on the Vienna-Budapest line.
This first complete installation as an overlay on an existing line shall demonstrate the performance of the new European train control system and the interoperability with existing ATP systems, and shall lead to an approval or revision of ERTMS specification for subsequent wide application on the railway network in Europe.
By the accompanying research work in this project and by the step-by-step approach of implementation, the risks while introducing innovations to a complex system should be minimised.
The full functional system validation shall be performed for the following operating modes/functions:
* full ERTMS Level 1 will be tested according to European functional Specification (FRS),
* the STM Indusi developed in other projects will be used in this project, if available,
* Infill function will be fulfilled for
- MAV by the EVM transmission channel and for comparison in two sections with Euroloop, if available, or else by an equivalent solution with balises, - TBB by Euroloop, if available, and/or by Eurobalises.
* a standardised, available ERTMS MMI will be used on the Vienna - Budapest test site.
