Local heat treatment of ultra high strength steel

Objective

High strength steels offer great possibilities for weight reduction, increased safety and reduced fuel consumption. However, serious problems are connected to production of the high strength steel parts. Low formability, spring back and tool where are such items.

The current project aims at reducing these problems through local heat treatment of the steel sheet. Local heat treatment can significantly increase the formability of the steel.

Much better formability is achieved in the areas where it is needed, while the high strength is retained elsewhere. The proposal contains the whole chain from material producers via equipment makers and subcontractors to end-users.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
