Objective
A standard CAD system was adapted to meet the following requirements:
Includes a system of garment features and properties, and their relation to the patterns involved.
The coupling of this system to an advanced design system, to allow control of the modification process and meeting of garment requirements.
Offers user friendly operation, flexibility for users, and short working times.
Use of microcomputer systems.
Interfacing with existing hardware and software.
A database structure and management approach which is adapted to requirements for filing and exchange of information.
A series of basic set up and change data common to today's fashion and styling industry were defined and translated into a series of basic actions to be done by the cutter modeller.
THE PROJECT IS AIMING AT A LOW-END WORKSTATION FOR A CAD SYSTEM FOR PATTERN CONSTRUCTION, MODIFICATION AND GRADING. THE SYSTEM WILL BE ABLE TO CONSTRUCT BASIC PATTERNS FOR BODY SIZE MEASUREMENTS. TO CREATE NEW STYLES A SPECIALLY STRUCTURED DATABASE CAN BE USED TO SEARCH FOR MORE OR LESS SIMILAR MODELS AND-OR PATTERN PARTS. THE DATABASE MAY OPERATE ON INDIVIDUAL COMPANY CHARACTERISTICS.PATTERNS CAN BE MODIFIED BY MEANS OF MACROS THAT CONSIST OF TECHNIQUES TO CONTROL RELATIONS, FITTING AND GRADING. THE USE OF EXISTING MODELS AND-OR PATTERNS THROUGH AN EFFICIENT DATABASE CUTS OUT DIGITISING AND GRADING, AND WILL IMPROVE QUALITY.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
