Objective
This project succeeded in producing software tools for predictive performance analysis of new condensing steam turbine designs. Numerical models have been developed, which allow the condensing turbine flow to be calculated at the level of the whole machine, or in more detail for individual blade sections. The accuracy of the calculation methods has been demonstrated by comparison with experiments conducted as part of the project. The measured data include distributions of condensate properties found using a new optical probe.
