USE OF CERAMIC MATERIALS FOR ADVANCED TRIBOLOGICAL SYSTEMS INVOLVING FLUIDS WITH ADVERSE LUBRICATING PROPERTIES

Objective

It was verified that silicon ceramics are effective seals in pumping and coupling systems. As a follow-up to the initial study, partners devised a set of standards for using silicon ceramics as seals, including roughness and the nature of the material.

Guidelines were established that will lead to production of silicon ceramic seals.
