Objective
The physical properties of well characterized, either textured or epitaxial thin films of high Tc superconducting oxides of the YBa2Cu3O7 family, will be studied. Transport properties, including thermopower and upper critical fields, will be measured with special emphasis on anisotropy. Meissner effect and magnetic properties will be explored. The electronic states and correlation effects will be studied by means of different spectroscopies. Surface resistance as well as the energy gap will be obtained from microwave measurements in superconducting cavities. Isotopic exchange (18 O) phenomena will also be studied. Finally, preliminary measurements of tunneling properties of junctions will be performed. Theoretical support will be provided in relation with low dimensionality and with phenomenalogical aspects of flux penetration.
