Objective
A multi-national collaboration to study the theory of electron correlations in high-temperature superconductivity is proposed. The work will bring together researchers with complemantary expertise in computer simulations, perturbation theory of effective Hamiltonians, renormalisation group methods, spin-glass theory and lattice field theory. These techniques give different insights into the
fundamental problem of the pairing of holes in the superconducting materials. By cross-fertilisation of ideas and detailed comparison of results, we will be in a position to give a quantitative
comparison and critical appraisal of various competing models.
