DYNAMICS OF THE STRUCTURAL AND MECHANO-CHEMICAL MECHANISM OF MUSCULAR CONTRACTION AND ITS CONTROL

Objective

The mechanism of muscular contraction will be investigated at the molecular level in permeabilized fibre preparations of fast-twitch skeletal rabbit muscle and insect fibrillar flight muscle.
The dynamic and structural properties of intermediates in the cross-bridge cycle will be characterised by using a variety of rapid real-time analytical methods. The results will be coordinated with those obtained from isolated actomyosin in solution and from single actin filaments that are motile and capable of sustaining force exerted by a mono-layer bed of myosin molecules.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
