MEASUREMENT AND THERMODYNAMIC MODELING OF SUPERCRITICAL FLUID EXTRACTION

Objective



Eventhough, supercritical fluid (SCF) extraction technology in separation technology has attracted tremendous interest in the Petroleum and different Chemical industries, the appropriate thermodynamic modelling for solvent screening and process design purposes has not been established yet. The development of such a model is the objective of this Project. To this purpose, the UNIWALLS model - a combination of the widely used for activity coefficients UNIFAC model and an equation of state - will be: i) tested and modified for application to near critical conditions; and ii) extended to a variety of SCF mixtures by determining a large number of interaction parameters using experimental data obtained in this Project and from the literature.
