The development of combined thermodynamic and kinetic models for the simulation of materials processing

Objective

Models incorporating both the thermodynamic and kinetic aspects of different types of chemical reaction will be developed for use with available data and software to simulate the processes taking place during various, representative types of materials processing operations. The capabilities and limitations of the resulting combined models for simulation and optimization of the process parameters associated with such operations as energy production, ore-reduction, metal-refining, chemical vapour deposition and waste incineration, will be investigated.
The findings will enable a much improved description of the
course of particular materials processes to be achieved, thereby providing an important theoretical tool for simulating and optimising a variety of operations across a wide spectrum of the materials industry.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
