The properties of liquid foams will be analysed in relation to their structure (geometry, topology) using established computer programs and new ones to be developed within the project. In particular, the case of mixedgas foams will be adressed. Simulation techniques for the mechanical properties of solid foams, both under quasi-static and dynamic loading, will be pursued in two dimensions in the first instance (and eventually in one dimension for the solid foams) the problems of three-dimensional simulation will be adressed, using advanced graphical techniques. These general developments, together with the detailed applications which emerge, constitute part of the basis of an emerging "science of foams".
