Objective
Electrification of some islands in the Bretagne. The islands are tourist centres in summer and all (except St. Nicolas) are unoccupied in winter.
All five systems are installed :
Drenec (1472 Wp), (since Aug. 91)
Cigogne (1472 Wp), (since Aug. 91)
St. Nicolas (9600 Wp) (since Mar. 92)
Bananec (1472 Wp), (since Dec. 92)
Penfret (5500 Wp), (since Dec. 92)
The three originally foreseen systems at Penfret have been joined to one big system (5500 Wp).
At the St. Nicolas system a new battery, a new wind generator and a new DIESEL (paid by ADEME and the users) were installed.
Due to financial difficulties of the second contractor no monitoring data could be collected and no final report could be written.
The first contractor has passed the installation to EdF for further maintenance.
Five PV systems totalling about 19 kWp to provide power for domestic use, water desalination and pumping on five small islands of the Glenan archipel. The two larger systems (St. Nicolas, 9600 Wp and Penfret, 5500 Wp) are connected to a wind/diesel and wind systems using the existing inverter and batteries. The other three systems of 1472 Wp have inverters to 220 V ac. Monitoring: St. Nicolas and Penfret: Tele-monitoring by modem type TBC, made by NAPAC. Three other systems : Data logger SUNPAC with local data storage.

Load descript. : general electricity supply on St. Nicolas Island
for houses and for and water desalination plant. On the other islands also general electrification and pumping of drinking water. Monitoring : For St. Nicolas and Penfret all important parameters are measured, stored on site and also transmitted by MINITEL. For Drenec and Cigogne the ac consumption and the dc inverter input are measured.
