Objective
A combined active solar installation foreseen in 30 single family houses of simple standard will demonstrate that payback times below 15 years can be reached in the Netherlands. The solar system feeds into the domestic hot water system or into the floor heating system per house 5 m2 of single glazed selective collectors are foreseen. The solar floor heating is not connected to the auxiliary heating system thus working always on a low temperature level. This exclusive solar floor heating is innovative. The monitoring is foreseen during twelve months only and will be executed by two national research offices.
The building plan encloses total 67 houses : 59 houses in Dordrecht and 8 houses in Hardinxveld-Giessedam.
26 Houses in Dordrecht and 4 houses in Hardinxveld-Giessendam are built with an active solar system.
Phase 4 (measurements) is completed in May 1994.
Phase 5 (evaluation) will be ended November 1994.
A coherent package of energy saving measures for newly built low budget family housing is proposed. The energy saving measures :
- a level of thermal insulation and air thighness higher then the Dutch standard (It=16 instead of It=12)
- a building design and building orientation optimized for passive solar gain
- an active solar system which has the following characteristics :
* 5 m2 collector area mounted on the titled roof
* 120 1 storage for DHW (pre)heating
* 15 m2 of the ground floor is used as combined heat storage and distribution
* manual switching from DHW heating during summer to space heating during the heating season
* improved the indoor climate by a lower vertical temperature gradient and a higher mean radiation temperature * built up from a standard solar DHW system, an extra collector module and a conventional floor heating system the measure programme will be consist of :
* weekly measuring the gas consumption in 20 dwellings divided as follows over the categories:
- without active system 10
- with solar boiler/floor storage 10
* weekly measuring of the main energy streams in 10 dwellings with a solar installation. Besides will be registered subcontribution to heating apparatus, suncontribution to floorstage, consumption conventional installation in the total gas consumption.
