Low-cost Smart Sensor Systems

Objective

The scientific nd technical objectives of this research proposalconcern the development of low-cost smart sensor systems, which consist of a sensing element, a novel snsor interface (SI) and a microcontroller. The system should be universal, easy-to-use and have features and auto-calibration and self-testing. Research is required to make the sensor interface universal, so that it can support a wide variety of low-cost sensing elements, including capacitive and resistive elements as well as voltage-, current- and charge-generating elements. Further research and development is required to integrate the novel sensor systems in en products: smart thermal, capacitive, magnetic and chemical ssensor systems. More research and development will be needed to integrate the smart sensor systems with control systems or instrumentation & measurement equipment. Problems and opportunities related to the application of these low-cost sensor systems are addressed.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
