Measurement Test & Assessment.Clinical Workstation for Speech & Hearing

Objective

Speech is the primary means of communication in all human societies but the core current clinical measurements of productive competence and of the ability to hear are not primarily based on the use of normal speech. Research is proposed to support the longer term development of a European language speech and hearing clinical workstation which is based on the use of normal European speech forms. The software and hardware modules will be targeted to meet the following objectives: - provide tests and assessments which emphasize the use of normal speech in the language environment of the client - give a first basis for speech pattern element tests of perceptual ability and in this way assist in cross-language evaluation - introduce multi-parameter, high accuracy, measurements of speech productive ability - contribute to the availability of normal and clinical reference standards for use in European environments
