Development of phosphate and sulfate ion-selective electrode for on-line measurement in water, without any addition of chemicals

Objective

The objective of this project is to develop, in short-term, ion-selective electrodes for Phosphate and Sulfate (also called ISE's). ISE's are available for almost all important ions that are dissolvable in water, but not for phosphate and sulfate. The great advantage of measuring with ISE's is that no chemicals are needed and the analyses are quick and low-cost in comparison to other measurement techniques. Recently developments in membrane technologies (for example new covalent bounded ionofores) in combination new developed "smart" analysis equipment, working on the base of ISE's (like the Hydrion-10), have created new opportunities for developing these "missing" ISE's. ISE based measurement equipment will be completed by these new sensors and the possibilities for application for on-line monitoring of all kinds of process water will strongly expand.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
