Objective Research into imaging sensors, and image processing techniques, to operate down oil and gas well holes. This will be used in wire-line operations, to provide visibility of problems deep down the hole to operators on the surface. The challenge is to devise an imaging sensor that can provide useful images through murky media, despite extreme environmental conditions, and to devise appropriate image processing that can extract useful information for the operator from poor images.
