Schooling, Training and Transitions : An Economic Perspective

Objective

The primary objective of our proposal is to bring together the work an experiences of European economists who have invested the field of education and training. The TSER (area II) offers a unique opportunity to exploit the wealth and diversity of European institutions and data for the benefit of a growing expertise in comparative analysis and of a deeper understanding of the mechanisms which have shaped schooling and training systems, and labour market transitions (from school to work, and from job to job), somewhat differently across countries.
We propose a theoretical and empirical investigation of three related topics: (1) A comparative analysis of schooling systems (sub-area II-1 of the TSER) (2) The transition from school to work (sub-area II-3 of the TSER) (3) Training and labour market flexibility (sub-area II-3 of the TSER). Our proposal consists in a RTD project and a thematic network.
