Objective
The objectives of this project are to build a new type of research infrastructure whilst testing the capacity of that infrastructure to improve research training, to organise collaboration between social science researchers, policy makers and business leaders to improve research and research dissemination, to develop transnational doctoral training facilities, and to build an on-line register and database for social scientists. Over three years the partner institutions will develop a research infrastructure comprising four closely interlinked activities. The first activity is the creation of an annual meeting of social science researchers, policy makers and business leaders to develop a productive dialogue about research design, research approaches and the dissemination of research results.
The second activity is to develop close institutional links between the partner institutions both by collaboration in all activities of this project and by the conduct of regular consortium debates aimed at constantly testing the research capacity of the new infrastructure as it develops. The third activity is for small teams of researchers, primarily from the partner institutions, to lead interdisciplinary project based research workshops on specific themes directly linked to the process of European integration for small groups of doctoral researchers from all parts of the European Union. The fourth and final activity is the operation of an Internet research subject database for all participants in the partner institutions and in the workshops and open to other social scientists.
