Objective
THERE IS A GROWING CONCERN REGARDING ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION ESPECIALLY IN COASTAL AREAS FROM THE OUTFLOWS OF PROCESSING INDUSTRIES.ONE OF THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THIS PROJECT IS TO REDUCE POTENTIAL POLLUTION BY ADAPTING AN EXISTING TYPE OF CERAMIC MEMBRANE FILTER TECHNOLOGY TO THE NEEDS OF THE FISH PROCESSING INDUSTRY. IN PARALLEL WITH ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS THIS INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY WILL REDUCE ENERGY COSTS AND HELP TO RETAIN PROTEINS FROM THE PROCESS. THESE PROTEINS CAN BE USED TO INCREASE THE VALUE OF THE FISH MEAL PRODUCT. THE TECHNOLOGY WILL BE BE IMPLEMENTED AT PILOT SITES IN DENMARK AND PORTUGAL. AN OBSERVER GROUP WITH PARTICIPANTS FROM OTHER COMMUNITY COUNTRIES WILL BE SET UP TO ENSURE WIDER DISSEMINATION.
