Geomatic database on european transport

Objective

Main objective of this project is to specify a proposal of mobility knowledge by managing a Geomatic Database on European Transport. Results of this research will be accompanied by a dissemination policy. For European users, applications of this project combine a proposal of Database methodology for establishing general databases and test of compatibility between transport data (flows and networks) and socio-economic data. An undivided attention will take notice of quality of products for users, with adaptation of tools for categories of interest.

The Project will establish general databases on transport flows and socio-demographic data, in connection with managing databases on transport infrastructure networks.

Three main objectives are proposed :
- concept of data models for associate managing of transport flows and socio-demographic data in European spatial area context,
- organization of general databases for managing transport and socio-economic data with partition protocol,
- operating interactive computer programme with presentation tools.

Programme:
1. Develop methodology for building data models combining transport flow data and socio-demographic data with identification of specific spatial areas (application of model HBDS).
2. Building of Database Management System and test on NORSIGHT server in Caen University.
3. Access to information with specific softwares ( ArcView / ArcData, UTS ...) and dissemination of products.
