Objective A microprocessor controlled photoacoustic spectrometer for extracavity measurements was developed and applied to the study of the dynamics of chemical relaxation. A quantitative interpretation not only of the photoacoustic signal but also of the behaviour of the resonance frequency and resonance halfwidth was achieved. All measurements were performed with a cylindrical resonator.
