Flashing flow through and out of a breach of a pressurized vessel containinga liquefied gas

Objective

The objective is to provide the industries or governmental agencies with best estimate codes for specific and accurate analysis or with fast codes for risk evaluation and sensitivity analysis.

There are 6 main work programmes as follows.
Experimental determination of the droplet size distribution at the exit of the bottom discharge pipe of an existing liquified propane storage tank during a sudden blowdown.
Experimental investigation of flashing flow of water in complex geometries (safety valves) at pressure less than 5 bars.
Mathematical modelling of flashing flows through valves and choked flow predictions.
Eulerian modelling of multidimensional 2-phase flows following an accidental bottom discharge of a liquified propane storage tank or consecutive to the total failure of the vessel.
Lagrangian modelling of multidimensional 2-phase flows following an accidental bottom discharge of a liquified propane storage tank.
Development of an industrial code to model the dispersion of a droplet cloud adapted to fast parametricstudies.
