Objective
To develop a production system to enable gas to be extracted from offshore fields in water depths of the order of 350 m.
The alternative field development schemes indicated that the tension leg platform would be a technically acceptable and economic concept for hydrocarbon production from the two scenarios. Outline designs for suitable structures have been developed, with emphasis being given to areas of technical uncertainty, including tether systems, installation methods and risers. The designs have been adequated for realistic cost estimates to be obtained. The results have shown that the concept is feasible for the envisaged duties and has indicated where further development is required
The project has studies alternative field development schemes for two scenarios relating to hydrocarbon production offshore northern norway, and has then made a more detailed investigation of tension leg platforms suitable for exploitation of the scenarios. Norwegian companies took part in the activities as subcontractors.
