TESTING OF NOVEL OFFSHORE HYDRAULIC PILE HAMMERS

Objective

To demonstrate the ability of novel piling hammers to operate over sustained periods reliably.
The tests were successfully completed and a number of pile anchors driven. However commercial application of the hammers has yet to be achieved.
Tests were carried out on 48 and 12 tonne metre hydraulic hammers and also a 12 tonne metre slim hydraulic hammer. These tests were carried out both above and below water and also inside a pile.
