Objectif It was the aim of the project to abolish problems connected with conventional handling techniques during launch and retrieval of submersibles in bad weather by introducing a new kind of support vessel.Idea found considerable attention. Project could not be realised for commercial and technical reasons (lack of surface, independent power supply). No application so far.Various possibilities of launch and recovery from a catamaran vessel, capable of self-diving, were investigated. Consequent pursuit of this idea led to the subcat concept, a submersible catamaran vessel suited as mothership for a small submersible but also as a fully autonomous underwater work system.
