Objective
The project aims are to define a floating production vessel based on a turret mooring using conversion of existing tankers.
The preliminary study has been based on the following parameters : water depth being 100 to 200 m, recoverable reserves 100 millions of barrels, light crude 36 API, peak production 60,000 barrels per day from 6 wells. A typical tanker VLCC of 315,00 DWT has been selected. Turret investigation led to a 12 chains mooring system with a lower turret bearing to support horizontal stresses.
The project is based on the concept of a single unit to be inserted within a tanker. This unit is based on the "turret" technology with superstructure floors to hold the processing equipment. The project will be conducted in several phases :
- project definition
- model testing, computer design and analysis
- design of systems and equipment
- design interfaces - cost estimates - development schedules
- final report.
