CONGESTION MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES AND METHODS IN URBAN SITES

Objective

COSMOS addresses the problem of traffic congestion caused by incidents or over-saturation of the road network in urban areas with traffic signal control systems. Its central aim is to test and demonstrate congestion and incident management (CIM) strategies. To this end, the project will refine existing concepts for urban incident and congestion detection and, on the basis of the plans, develop detailed CIM and rerouting strategies for integration with on-line network signal control.
