INTEGRATING WATERBORNE TRANSPORT IN THE LOGISTICS CHAIN

Exploitable results

INTERPORT has integrated waterborne transport in the logistics chain. The system enables terminal, port, and road, rail and sea freight transport operators to automate their information procedures. The system has been tested at the ports of Helsinki, Piraeus, Thessaloniki, Oslo and Bilbao. INTERPORT is an open freight transport information system for the automatic identification and access control of equipment, vehicles and drivers in ports. Both smart card and tag technologies support functions such as access/exit control, guidance, loading /unloading, inventory, customs and administration. The system has been tested at the ports of Helsinki, Piraeus, Thessaloniki, Oslo and Bilbao and will be commercialised world-wide.
