Objective
The design of an integrated system to support decision-making on board ship and ashore is addressed by SHIDESS which will validate a model to acquire and process key information on a ship's navigation safety, logistics management and protection against sea pollution. Specific aspects covered will include hull stress monitoring and telecommunications and navigation equipment efficiency. Preventive measures will be taken to counter any problems apparent from the processed data. A comprehensive laboratory prototype will be used to validate and verify the system following examination of the requirements of its users.
