TRACAR aims to create a low-cost, flexible, configurable traffic and cargo dynamic monitoring control system for positioning and tracking of goods and containers.
A low-cost, flexible, configurable supervision system has been developed for combined transport based upon a non-powered passive tag. This tag is able to position containers in terminals accurately and to unload them from trains and ships. It is already being used on multimodal (road, rail, and ship) corridors for transporting frozen food products. It will be made commercially available worldwide. Major validation sites are situated in Denmark, Portugal, Italy and Germany.
