WP 0: To describe the policy requirements on safety, capacity, protection of environment, calamity abatements and regarding inland waterways
WP I: To develope relations between safety, capacity and environmental impacts as a function of an increased knowledge provided to user of the waterway
WP II: To describe different management options.
WP III: To derive the user requirements of users on board of ships and ashore. The latter with regard calamity abatement on the hand logistics on the other.
WP IV: Determination of the functional specifications of the operational traffic image that is send to the ship based on the output from WPIII
WP V: To determine the technical specifications of a full system of shore radar board equipment and a system based operational traffic image and output to other users.
WP VI: To describe a full system of classical VTS centers.
WP VII: To bring a shore based radar image to a PC on a vessel together with information of other vessels.
WP VIII: To bring a shore based image based on GPS technology to a PC on a vessel together with information of other vessel.
WP IX: To provide an assesment of the two operational traffic image systems against a classical VTS.

The results will help the EC to further enhance and exploit the MARIS initiative. Traffic management and reporting are contributing to SAFEMAR on part of MARIS and logistic information is related to the MARTRANS part of MARIS.
