Demonstration of Integrated Ship Control (ISC) by way of Inter-European Implementation

Objective

The direct objective of DISC II is to support, further and participate in the creation of a single European Standard for Integrated Ship Control - DISC - catering for an enhancement of maritime quality in terms of safety, reliability, efficiency and competitiveness.
Building on the 'skeleton standard' created in the DISC project, DISC II leads up to and includes the:
- demonstration of the commercial viability of the DISC Concept;
- demonstration of the industrial benefits of the DISC Concept;
- demonstration of the technical feasibility of the DISC Concept.
It should be stated that the work of the project constitutes what would normally be included in any feasibility study, and hence serves the purpose of proving the concept, rather than bringing the state of the DISC Concept into a standard.
%

The main testing and demonstration/validation of DISC II will take place at the Danish Maritime Institute in Lyngby, Denmark. Secondary testing & testing of subsystems will take place in 12 EC countries and Norway.
%
DISC II is physically and logically linked to the following: ATOMOS II (EU DG VII), MBB (EU DG VII), VTMISNET (EU DG VII), COMFORTABLE (EU DG VII) and MASSTER (EU DG VII). DISC II is further contractually linked to the ATOMOS II (EU DG VII) and PISCES (EU DG XIII).
