15 KW GRID CONNECTED MACHINE WITH FLAP-HINGE ROTOR

Objective

To erect a 15 KW Suedwind wind turbine with a 7m diameter flap-hinge rotor. Flap-hinge rotor at this size and new fabrication process of the glass-fibre reinforced epoxy resin with polyurethene hard foam core blades consist the innovation which result in lower production cost and increased efficiency for future plants. Estimated annual yield 20 000 KWh.
A set of simplified measurements has been carried out with regards to the dynamic behaviour, the wind turbine shows a high stability for winds speed up to 21 m/s. Even winds with large variations in direction do not cause problems in dynamics and yawings.
As for the total energy production, the wind turbine yielded 14.5 MWh in 1989, having a work rating availability over 95% and saving DM 700. This project is now ripe for commercialization.
A 15 KW Suedwind N715 with 7 m diameter and flap-hinge rotor wind turbine has been erected next to an education-relaxation center at Marschenhof, Wremen. It has a 15 KW asynchronous generator which is placed on the top of a 18 m cantilivered tower. The flap-hinge rotor as well as the new fabrication process of the glass-fibre reinforced resin blades are innovative. Short term detailed measurements will be carried out as well as long-term performance measurements. Cut-in speed is 3 m/s and the cut-out 30 m/s.
The estimated annual yield is 20 000 KWh.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
