Objective
Three wind turbines of 42 KVA each one will be installed in Sicilia. Connected in parallel with gas-generators. The electricity and the heat will be used for a fish farm. The project is realized in order to estimate the availability and reliability of the whole system. The total estimated annual yield by the wind turbines is 220 MWh and of the whole plant 525 MWh.
The three horizontal axis 33 KW each upwind wind turbines manufactured by AEROMAN-ISEA and the three gas co-generators manufactured by TELEDYNE-ISEA with a nominal power of 30 KW electric and 40 KW thermal each, were installed in November 1987. The connection of the wind turbines and the gas co-generators is done in parallel to the grid and between each other through an automatic power regulation output.
During the demonstration phase (eight months) the plan has produced 280 MWh of electrical energy and 283 MWh of thermal, with a global investment cost of 613 MLIT and annual savings of 28 MLIT.
The same plant could operate as such in isolated areas (not connected to the local grid) at a reduced investment cost an higher annual value of savings which would result to a payback time of 9 years.
This project is now ready for connercialization and replication.
Three horizontal axis, upwind wind turbines manufactured by AEROMAN ISEA with nominal power of 42 KVA each will be installed in Sicilia and will generate electricity for the supply of the Italittica Waterculture Center. The project includes three 42 KVA two bladed ISEA made windturbines and three gas-generators which will also provide the fishfarm with heat; about 190 MWh/y. The total estimated annual electricity generation is 335 MWh of which 220 MWh by the wind turbines.
The cost per energy unit is estimated to 65 LIT while the conventional cost is 135 LIT and thus the payback of the project has been estimated at 9 years.
