Objective
To demonstrate that cogeneration operation units run satisfactorly. Sometimes the responsibles for the plant operation do not have proper experience and knowledge on this matter. This has a negative effect over the energy and economic efficiency of the installation.
The training course had contributed to avoid the lack of technical knowledge of plant operators and of potential ones in order:
- To enhance the availability of the installations obtaining an increase of the production hours.
- To improve the energy supply quality.
- To minimize the maintenance costs.
- To increase the trustfulness on the technology among potential users.
The reliability and profitability of the existing installations are the best presentation card for the potential investors in this technology.
The duration of the training was two days and was held the 8th and 9th of June of 1993.
The course had the participation of 22 people and 10 lectures from seven different companies from the United Kingdom, France and Spain.
The main items of the programme were :
- Description of a CHP installation, economical and energy benefits. Thermal and electric integration with factory.
- Technical visit to the cogeneration installation of La Seda de Barcelona in order to have a general overview of the plant.
- Gas turbine. Components. Control operation and maintenance. Compressor cleaning. Failures and its causes. How to behave when problems appear.
- Steam turbine. Components. Control. Operation and maintenance. Failures and its couses. How to behave when problems appear.
- Introduction to the ionic interchange. Demineralization. Condensed treatment. Thermal degasification. Regeneration process. Regulation and control of the plant. Preventive maintenance.
- Recuperation boiler. Its relation with gas turbine. Pressure. Superheater and reheater. Postcombustion burning. Control system. Operation and maintenance.
- Distributed control system. Basic control principles. Supervision systems and alarms. Functioning alternatives. Emergency behaviour. Registration of variables. Normal operation and maintenance.
After each session the participants were invited to walk around the plant to appreciate the previous description of the plant.
