Objective
1. Determination of organisational and techniological conditions for the introduction of monitoring and targeting in small and medium sized companies, by means of a pilot with approx 30 companies
2. Practical experience with conversion of information from monitoring into usable management information (10 companies);
3; to define organisational technological and economic conditions for an effective M&T-structure;
4. to define the critical succes-factors;
5. to improve the insight into energy-efficient production techniques within companies.
it is anticipated that, on the basis of the results of the project and the companies participating, an average immediate improvement of 10% can be realised in energy efficiency as compared with the original situation. The indication of the options for savings will come about through the formulation of concrete and immediately implementable proposals for optimization within the sphere of good housekeeping.
An additional 15% improvement can be aimed by means of the formulation of implementable optimization proposals within the sphere of technical processes and/or innovation, with a maximum cost recovery period of 3 years.
The method used for the determination of these optimization proposals is monitoring and targeting, combined with a feasibility analysis of the improvement options. In the execution phase it is foreseen that the introduction of monitoring alone will already take effect on the efficiency of energy use, in relation with production volumes.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
