Objective
The objective of the domestic lighting pilot study is to provide a firm base for targeting, promoting and evaluating DSM/energy saving initatives in the lighting sector.
The domestic lighting pilot study is recording lighting and total energy usage by half-hour for a representative sample of 100 hundred customers for at least a year.
This data will be supplemented by a comprehensive customer survey to gather information on household characteristics and on attitudes to the importance attached for lighting for different purposes.
The EA will liaise with other interested organisations, including the University of Oxford Environmental Change Unit (who are currently conducting the 'Decade' energy modelling project with support from EC SAVE) and the UK's Department of Environment.
