Objective
The aim of the project is to prepare metal-complexes of weakly coordinating anions and unusual ligands (nitrous oxide, dihydrogen trioxide, krypton difluoride, xenon tetrafluoride, xenon difluoride, and hydrogen fluoride) and subject them to single crystal X-ray diffraction in order to obtain a detailed structural information of the ligand (dihydrogen trioxide) or the metal-ligand interaction (nitrous oxide, dihydrogen trioxide, krypton difluoride, xenon tetrafluoride, xenon difluoride, and hydrogen fluoride). The approach of the proposal is based on merging the experimental techniques (low temperature isolation and structural characterisation, especially used and developed in noble gas chemistry) and chemistries (fluorinated super weakly coordinating anions) with the fields (nitrous oxide and dihydrogen trioxide chemistry) where they have not been used before. Fundamental insights on the nature of the interactions between metals and aforementioned ligands (nitrous oxide, dihydrogen trioxide) would have environmental, technological, and implications in biological systems.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
