The goal of this project was to prepare complexes or co-crystals of unusual and sometimes unstable ligands. The obtained coordination compounds stabilized by fluorinated weakly coordinating anions were synthesised, manipulated, and crystallised at low temperatures by special experimental techniques. Furthermore, crystalline samples were subjected to low-temperature single-crystal X-ray diffraction in order to obtain a detailed structural information on the ligands or the interactions between the ligands and central cations. Thereby, the fundamental knowledge and understanding of the structural chemistry and the reactivity of selected ligand molecules were significantly extended.
