Objective The aim of the ATLANTIC project is to develop and implement a multimedia interactive information service for the analysis of economic information. The proposed system combines graphic and alphanumeric information. Graphic information consists in a complete European cartography and alphanumeric information is composed of economic parameters. This system will allow different economic analysis which results will be shown in geographic maps. The graphic information generated by the system will be dynamic, resulting from analysing alphanumeric information, by means of a Geographical Information System (GIS). The ATLANTIC user will not only receive a series of graphic information, but will interact with the system, accessing econometric information, analysing it, and obtaining graphics showing the results of the corresponding analysis.ATLANTIC is composed of a central system connected to different existing economic data sources. The user will need a standard PC, a CD-ROM reader, and a modem. Graphic information will be stored in a CD-ROM and alphanumeric information will be accessed by the user via a standard telephone line. The ATLANTIC user will be able to define, temporary analyse, model, and represent graphic information on economic concepts.
