Project description
Honing in on neutrino behaviours that are anything but standard
Neutrinos are among the 12 fundamental matter particles that make up everything in our universe, to our knowledge. Since they do not interact with matter, they are also among the least understood despite being pretty much everywhere – scientists estimate that about 100 trillion neutrinos pass through your body every second. The Standard Model that describes our particle world has some acknowledged gaps, and several predictions that could move us beyond this model relate to neutrinos. The EU-funded INTENSE project is bringing together some of the most important neutrino physics experiments on three continents to expedite discovery and innovation in neutrino physics and beyond.
