Project description
Training early-stage researchers in application of managed aquifer recharge solutions
It is important to maximise natural storage and increase water supply during periods of low flows. Managed aquifer recharge (MAR) is the intentional infiltration of water into aquifers with the purpose of recovering the water. However, little is known about the complex interaction of the physical, biological and hydrochemical processes involved and how these impact water quality and the sustainability of infiltration rates. The EU-funded MARSoluT project, a four-year Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Innovative Training Network, will address this knowledge gap to optimise MAR design and operation. Twelve early-stage researchers will be trained to become experts in the application of MAR in the frame of integrated water resource management.
