Objective The existing project is performed by the European Radiation Dosimetry Group (EURADOS), a scientific society of about 180 scientists from laboratories in Europe working in the field of radiation measurement and dosimetry. The main objectives of the additional proposal are: The stimulation of collaboration in research and technical developments concerning measurement and evaluation of ionizing radiation exposures. The harmonization of methods assessing radiation exposures by means of intercomparisons, workshops and collaboration between laboratories in Western, Central and Eastern Europe. The collection and evaluation of physical data relevant to dosimetry and the assessment of occupational, accidental and environmental exposures. The support of transfer of expertise and experience in radiation dosimetry from well experienced laboratories in Western Europe to other sites and young scientists in Central and Eastern Europe by enabling the participation on seminars and tutorials organized by EURADOS. The work of EURADOS is mainly carried out through Working Groups consisting of up to 15 scientists from different European laboratories. 8 Working Groups have been installed dealing With the following tasks: WG 2: Skin Dosimetry WG 4: Numerical Dosimetry WG 6: Assessment of Internal Dose WG 7: Radiation Spectrometry at Working Environments WG 8: Development of Individual Dosemeters for External penetrating Radiation WG 9: Criticality accident dosimetry WG 10: Basic physical Data and Characteristics of Gas Ionization Devices WG 11: Radiation Exposure and Monitoring of Air Crews. It is proposed that scientists from Central and Eastern European countries become full members of the Working Groups and participate in the WG-meetings and their work programme. EURADOS will fund their participation in WG-meetings, in planned intercomparison measurements and in seminars or tutorials.
