Objective
BRING SPACE is a 24-month MSCA & Citizens action led by RCAAM to bring frontier astronomy into classrooms and public events. We will co-create science-accurate, playful tools and take them to 45 schools (priority to remote areas) and to two European Researchers’ Night events in Athens, Patras, Lamia & Ioannina in Greece (2026/27).
Core outputs: four interactive games (ISS docking; micro-gravity sanitation & waste disposal; food provisioning & storage under mass/volume limits; orbital debris cleanup), a black-hole “torch” game with VR add-on, a galactic-chaos simulator, a Solar Activity module with an “astronaut protection” mini-game plus a portable solar-telescope kit for safe daytime sunspot viewing, and a two-page night-sky brochure with training on a free stargazing app. All resources will be open and reusable (website, GitHub, printable packs, short videos).
Method: rapid cycles (design → prototype → pilot → refine), authentic physics (photon paths, orbital mechanics, CME timing, zero-g flows) blended with inquiry-based pedagogy, scaffolded difficulty, and teacher guides. Evaluation uses in-app analytics and pre/post surveys; teacher workshops ensure classroom uptake.
The team spans the full career path, from directors of research, senior/post-doctoral researchers, high-school teachers, PhD students, developers, and a professional game tester, with strong gender balance and international links (incl. INAF Brera). Management is streamlined under one coordinator with clear WP leads (black hole/VR; ISS & life-support; debris & chaos; solar & sunspot kit; night-sky brochure; Researchers’ Night; outreach/website; teacher training; sustainability).
Targets: ≥2,000 students engaged, ≥2,000 brochures distributed, ≥800 visitors at Researchers’ Nights, and sustained reuse by teachers through open licensing and training. BRING SPACE turns cutting-edge research into hands-on experiences, grows STEAM motivation, and leaves a practical, scalable toolkit for schools.
