Objective
While land transportation is rapidly electrifying, water mobility remains dominated by noisy, polluting, and energy-inefficient water crafts that damage marine ecosystems and face growing regulatory restrictions with increasingly limited access to eco-sensitive areas. The HEYROW-X1 project introduces a new category of clean maritime mobility through intelligent electric hydrofoil watercraft that merge aviation-grade stability control, zero-emission propulsion, and a unique user experience—the sensation of flight above water.
With its software-driven stabilization system integrated into a unique craft, the vessel lifts above the water surface, cutting vehicle noise, CO2 footprint and hull drag resulting in dramatically improved energy efficiency. The feeling of flying over the sea, combined with stability, low noise and fuel-efficiency, creates an experience unlike any other and brings forward a new market in water mobility for both private leisure users as well as public sector such as water rescue and coast guards.
The project will advance currently developed technology from TRL 4 to TRL 6, integrating and validating a full-scale prototype under real-world conditions. By aligning with the European Green Deal and the Sustainable Blue Economy, HEYROW-X1 bridges technology, sustainability, and emotion—redefining how people move, explore, and experience life on water while aiming to create jobs, reduce emissions, and supporting green maritime growth in Europe and across the world.
