Objective
"Across the EU, women remain underrepresented in top academic and leadership roles, a ""leaky pipeline"" particularly evident in Widening countries like Cyprus. Intersectionality exacerbates this, as overlapping inequalities (e.g. gender combined with disability or ethnicity) create compounded, invisible barriers to research careers.
GENDRIVE aims to elevate the research and innovation (R&I) capacity of Neapolis University Pafos (NUP) in Cyprus. The core objective is to transform NUP into a pioneering regional Centre of Excellence for intersectional gender equality research, pivoting the institution's approach from viewing gender equality as a static compliance requirement to embedding it as a dynamic, structural driver of research excellence.
Through a durable strategic collaboration with internationally leading Advanced Partners, University College London (UCL) and Universitat de Barcelona (UB), alongside KMOP for policy translation, GENDRIVE implements a rigorous capacity-building methodology. This will be achieved via: 1) Co-producing mixed-methods research to analyze how institutional cultures, governance, and intersectional inequalities shape career trajectories; 2) Establishing a robust mobility and mentoring programme for extensive two-way scientific talent exchange; 3) Upgrading NUP's capacity for data-intensive research by deploying a GDPR-compliant Secure Research Data Hub and FAIR Open Science protocols; 4) Professionalising NUP's research management and administrative capacities in alignment with the European Competence Framework for Research Managers (RM Comp); and 5) Engaging regional policymakers to harmonize gender equality standards.
GENDRIVE stimulates scientific excellence, strengthens research management capacities, develops novel approaches to collaboration via increased mobility, and supports the cross-cutting objectives of inclusive gender equality and open science."
