Objective
GREENEX-TWIN aims to strengthen the research excellence and innovation capacity of the Faculty of Technology Novi Sad (TFNS) in the field of sustainable valorization of underutilized plant resources, food industry by-products and agricultural waste as valuable sources of bioactive compounds (BAC). These biomass streams represent abundant but underutilized resources that can provide natural compounds such as polyphenols, carotenoids and other bioactive molecules with high potential for application in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food sectors. The project will implement a Twinning approach to enhance the scientific and institutional capacities of TFNS through structured cooperation with leading European institutions, the Institute for Food Science Research (CSIC-CIAL) and the University of Aix-Marseille (AMU). Capacity building will be achieved through advanced training programs, staff exchanges, mentoring programs and joint pilot activities, enabling the transfer of state-of-the-art knowledge and methodologies in green extraction technologies and sustainable biorefinery concepts. The project will also support process optimization and advanced characterization of extracts, strengthening methodological excellence at TFNS. Improving the visibility of the project and strengthening the capacity for research management, stakeholder engagement and innovation alignment will be one of the key roles of the Foodscale Hub (FSH), ensuring effective dissemination, exploitation and long-term sustainability of the project results. By integrating the transfer of scientific excellence with institutional capacity building and ecosystem engagement, GREENEX-TWIN will enhance the research profile, international visibility and long-term competitiveness of TFNS as an expanding institution within the European Research Area.
