BASIC AND ADVANCED LANGUAGE TRANSNATIONAL INTERACTIVE COURSE

Objective

The general objective of the project is to straighten the education of foreign languages as a pre-condition for faciliteting economic exchanges with the industrialized countries.

It is foreseen that modular courseware will be created for the computer-amisted teaching of the English language to the citizens of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. New multimedia technologies will allow self-teaching, classroom teaching and long distance teaching via an on-line network. In addition, the project will promote an easy and economical transfer to other languages.

The project aims primaries at the realisation of modules created especially with the characteristics of portability and modularity of the same course for different languages.

At the first step, course of Latvian/English that allows the listing of the transfer mechanisms will be developed. Then, two new modules for Lithuanian and English will be added to the system in order to test the transfer capacity. Finally, the project will show the low cost capacity and the user simplicity of the system.

The second objective of the project would be to adapt the training system for a computer assisted self-teaching, that can be used by schools. The self-teaching system will be put into classrooms under a supervision and guidance of a tutor linked to a network or for a on-line longdistance self teaching.
