Objective
Young researchers attached to the neural PRO project will have the opportunity of performing independent, high quality research with acknowledged experts active in the engineering, biological, medical, and industrial spheres. Not only will they attain a deeper understanding of their own discipline but also, through visits and secondments to other groups in the network, they will broaden their knowledge of, and competence in, all the related activities. They will be exposed to a custom-designed training programme that includes special courses and workshops. They will have the chance to discuss their research in a multidisciplinary context at the regular network meetings, and will be encouraged to participate in international conferences and to publish their findings in international peer-reviewed journals. They will emerge from the programme able to communicate and to cooperate efficiently with researchers from other engineering disciplines, medical sciences and industry. The value of such a training is not restricted to the biomedical field, but will enhance the ability of these individuals to benefit from career opportunities throughout research and industry.
